Meet the team
More than 40 horses and ponies live here. These are a few of the characters you might meet.
Billy
All abilitiesMostly sweet and sometimes cheeky, Billy is a great horse for riders of all abilities. He is a keen jumper and loves to canter through our fields.
Murphy
DressageMurphy is a sensitive boy. He prefers dressage exercises over jumping or pole work, but he is willing to work hard, and insists on looking cute while doing so. He shows lots of patience on group rides with children and we love all his little quirks.
Gladys
All rounderGladys is a beauty and she knows it. She's a confident mare with bundles of energy, a wonderful all rounder who loves to jump and is skilled at dressage.
Mac
Beginners and intermediateMac is a sweetheart and great for beginners as well as intermediate riders. He loves a cuddle but also likes a cheeky snack on a bit of grass while he's waiting his turn, so watch out for this one.
Ray
JumpingRay is an absolute powerhouse. When he is pointed towards a fence his ears prop up and he's ready for take off. He loves a good cross country course, but often insists on inspecting the jumps closely before he agrees to fly over them. Safety first.
Uggy
Adult beginners to experiencedUggy is a massive character at the yard, and a star when ridden. For a big heavy cob he can really carry himself and goes very nicely with the right rider. At our show events Uggy places top three every time, especially in dressage. A very diverse horse, suitable for adult beginners through to the more experienced.
Polo
Polo was a true professional. He knew his job inside out, a real schoolmaster, patient yet energetic. He taught countless beginners and novices how to walk, trot, canter and jump. He was retired for about a year before he had to leave us, at the proud age of 28. He became best buddies with Domino, and the two older gentlemen spent many hours together in the fields. We miss him dearly.
Domino
There will never be another horse with more attitude than Domino. He did a wonderful job as a school horse, then had a long and well deserved retirement to the ripe old age of 33, during which he still kept us on our toes. He knew better than all of us and showed it daily, from barging out of his stable to not coming in from the field unless on his terms. He made sure to be remembered.
Fleur
Fleur was one of the favourites among the little kids. She still looked like a young pony, even though she was in her twenties when sadly she had to leave us after a bad bout of colic. A gentle, kind soul who taught countless children to ride. She will never be forgotten.
OJ
OJ was a special character, full of cheek and sass even into old age. He was a great school horse and a keen jumper. We asked him to retire in his late twenties to give him a break, and he countered by becoming more energetic and spicy. He was 28 when he had to leave us, and we will always remember this handsome gentleman.
